Calvin is a Kansas native, born and raised in Abilene. He attended Kansas State University and was enrolled in ROTC during his time there. After graduating, he went into the Army and was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Cal settled in Southern California and became a real estate agent, and later a broker. He was one of the first in the real estate market to buy, restore and flip homes of all kinds before it was as popular as it is today. He slowly grew his inventory to include apartments buildings also. He also met his wife of 30 years while living in California, and together they have three daughters.

In 1992, when the purchase of Anderson Village in Manhattan, Kansas came about, Cal and Genie moved their family to Kansas. Here, Cal has had the exciting opportunity to grow with the Manhattan community, Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College, with property acquisitions, improvements and restorations, and building and selling. 

Calvin is also a member of the American Paint Horse Association, as well as the Kansas Paint Horse Association. He has been breeding and showing Paint Horses for the past 15 years statewide and nationally.
